Miles to Travel in Nine Days
When you're setting up your trip and planning your travels, make sure you pinpoint your must-visit locations before you get to AK. Having a solid plan going into your vacation will give you peace of mind and alleviate a bit of that initial traveling stress. Below you'll find an outline of a typical itinerary for an Alaskan RV tour.
Day 1
Land in Anchorage, AK, and take a free shuttle back to our rental office. You can even fly in the night before an stay in your vehicle. From here, the time is yours. Perhaps you'll stay in Anchorage for an afternoon, taking in the sights, culture, and incredibly diverse food. Remember, with an RV you won't have to pay an exorbitant amount for lodging, as Anchorage hotels can be a bit pricey. If you'd rather get moving right away, take the road north into Denali. Make sure you stop for snacks before setting up camp at one of the main campgrounds in the area.
Day 2
Today's the day for a flightseeing adventure over Denali National Park . From the sky you can spot bears, caribou, and some of the lushest forest preserves in the world. Although miles of open air separate you and the park, you'll feel right at home. When the plane lands, head to the river and take a guided whitewater rafting excursion, or simply relax near your RV and prepare for the next day.
Day 3
Expand your horizons and explore Mount McKinley. At over 20,000 feet, the mountain is a guaranteed hit for families and solo adventurers alike. You can spend hours driving around or hiking through the trails at the base of the mountain. Make sure to bring binoculars.
Day 4
From here, you can either stay in Denali another day and explore some more, or pack up and head south towards Seward and the surrounding area of Kenai National Park.
Day 5 - 8
After arriving at your Kenai destination, you'll want to spend the rest of your Alaskan tour on the shoreline. Book a guided riverboat cruise through the park or a day cruise out on the bay, and enjoy the remaining time out on the water fishing, swimming, or relaxing.
Day 9
It's time to head back to Anchorage and return your rental RV or vehicle.
