Denali Long Range Transportation Plan Comment Period Ends November 1, 2017

October 24, 2017

Outreach by the travel industry resulted in the National Park Service extending the comment period for the Denali National Park & Preserve Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) to November 1, 2017.

The LTRP for Denali National Park and Preserve is available here for comment and review. NPS has also shared a presentation outlining the plan.

According to the NPS, Denali National Park and Preserve is the first national park unit in Alaska to develop a park-specific plan. Denali’s LRTP will supplement regional and national LRTPs by outlining park-specific transportation goals, objectives, and strategies. The goal is to guide transportation planning and decisions during the next 20 years by strategically identifying and prioritizing the transportation infrastructure and systems that are needed.

Public comments received as part of this public comment period will inform the five-year revision of the LRTP.

The Denali LRTP is a strategy document and does not constitute approval of specific projects. Implementation of potential projects will require future compliance and public comment opportunity in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

Comments can be submitted directly on the Planning, Environment & Public Comment site via email or mailed to: Superintendent, Denali National Park and Preserve, P.O. Box 9, Denali Park, AK 99755.

Comments will be accepted through November 1, 2017.
