Art in Alaska
Thursday, May 29th, 2014
Visitors to Juneau's Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway this summer get to witness art in the making. Doug and Michael Chilton, a father-son team of Tlingit artists, are carving a totem pole that will be installed in the newly renovated restaurant located at this popular tourist destination. Those passing by have been able to ask questions, and even try their own hand at carving, as the Chiltons demonstrate the skill and tools required to make the iconic pieces of Alaskan art. Read on here to learn more about the Chiltons. (http://juneauempire.com/art/2014-05-29/father-son-team-carve-totem-pole-display#.U4d2tnJdWLE)
